Ages 9–12: a digital agreement that protects time and connection

A short digital agreement that connects safety with modelling and regular review.

Instead of surprising everyone with a ban list, build a short family agreement: where screens do not belong, when notifications pause, which games or apps are acceptable now, and who can help if something uncomfortable appears.

Let adults be part of the agreement as well. When a parent keeps the dinner table phone-free, the message carries more weight than any lecture. Review the agreement now and then because ages and needs change.

Practical step: choose two screen-free places at home—perhaps the table and bedrooms—and write them down as a family agreement, not a punishment.
